Baxter's Jewellers was founded in the Ayrshire coastal holiday resort of Saltcoats, 12 miles from the Pencil monument on the site of the battle of Largs, on the 29th of October 1977 by the husband and wife team of John and Jacqueline Baxter.

An ideas trip to the north of Scotland laid the foundations for the business that has a distinctly Scottish flavour. Baxters offer quality Scottish gifts such as Caithness Glass, Edinburgh Crystal; these were some of the original lines stocked and after 24 years are still popular today.

Baxters also offer a wide range of Celtic jewelry such as bracelets, brooches and earings. There are ladies and gents Celtic rings from established Celtic jewelry makers Ortak and Ola Gorie. The range of jewellery offered has developed by the addition of such products as the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Collection, which also features Mackintosh watches. Other products include Royal Scot Crystal, quaichs and SOS Talisman medical jewellery.

Unique to Baxters, Animal Friends, a quality range of detailed wildlife jewellery, focusing on endangered species, showing the beauty of nature in microcosm. This exclusive range was devised by Baxters and designed by Scottish Wildlife artist Duncan M. Watt.
