Edinburgh Crystal
The Venetians brought the art of glassmaking to the city of Edinburgh in the 17th century. Since 1867 Edinburgh Crystal have carried on this fine art by using additional skills to create Scottish crystal of distinction.
The Thistle is perhaps the most characteristic of the designs and certainly the most famous. Inspired by a Danish invasion the thistle became Scotland's national symbol when barefooted invaders attacked the Scots at night when a soldier stepped on a thistle and cried out alerting the Scots to the danger.
Beautifully cut and engraved on unique shapes and largely unchanged in more than a century. A pleasure to own.
